We went to the game yesterday, Memorial Day. It helped a lot that not only did Teacher Man get a deal on our loge seats but that was $1 Dodger Dog day. Made feeding the kids so much easier.
We had a certificate to turn in for 2 future tickets. After standing in line for 20 minutes Teacher Man was told that we had to go to a different level to turn that in. Arrrgghhh. Would have been nice if it had been printed on there.
When we parked the parking punks were yelling at us and other drivers to pull forward and keep our doors shut so others could park right next to us. Then we could have the "fun" of trying to carefully open our doors so the car next to us did not get dinged. Teacher Man did not hear them yell this and opened his car door wide so the space next to him could not be used. Then he ignored the parking punks while we got our stuff out of the car. It is not like the stadium was going to be sold out! There would be plenty of parking for all.
Nice mention of our military through out the day and a very exiciting game with the Dodgers winning over the Rockies 7 to 1. On the way to our car after the game, Lot 10, we saw exactly one police car and then when we lef the lot, at the next lot over (#8) there were 2 police officers on bicycles. That was it.

Long, long games
The Phillies went 19 innings yesterday and beat the Reds. I was reading about that game and here is some interesting statistics: It was the longest game for the Phillies since 7-7-93 when they beat the Dodgers in 20 innings and also the longest for the Reds since 8-8-72 when they beat the Dodgers in 19 innings.
I see a trend here. A trend I do not like.

Should have written about him 2 days ago
but I am a mom. I am very busy. (Aren't we all?) Harmon Killebrew died. One of the Minnesota Twins greats.
His full name was Harmon Clayton Killebrew. I have done a little poking around to see if that is who Clayton Kershaw is named after. I can't find anything to confirm that.
Some facts about the man:
In 1965 he helped the Twins go to the World Series (and then they lost to the Dodgers). He hit his only World Series home run and it was off of Don Drysdale.
Not only did he hit the most home runs of any baseball player of the 1960s, he was named to 11 All-Star teams.
For the franchise's first year in Minnesota, he was named the team captain.
In June of 1967 he hit the longest home run ever at Met Stadium and that shot landed in the 2nd deck of the bleachers.
One of the greats that will be missed. I am glad I got to tour Cooperstown where I learned about so many of these guys.

The week of Mother's Day
Had a very nice Mother's Day. Teacher man got my car washed for me. Teenaged girl baked a dessert for me. Son contributed to my walk-a-thon. Dog was in a good mood. And the Dodgers won!
The next day they lost. Then last night they won!
I also received an envelope from the Dodgers. I had written to them asking them to do a special promotion for Don Mattingly's, President Obama's, and my 50th birthdays (all this year). PR lady emailed back and asked for my address. I, stupidly, got excited. 2 weeks later I received a large manila envelope. In it there was a magazine, 2 discounts to a stadium tour, a sticker (I AM TURNING 50, NOT 5), and a certificate wishing me a happy birthday. I know they are out of money and can't make payroll, but still. Now they are running a promotion for a great price on tickets......to Monday's game. So if I lose a day of pay I can get great tickets.
I am still a Dodgers fan. I am still a Dodgers fan. I am still a Dodgers fan. I am still a Dodgers fan.

What about me?
With Mother's Day coming up, I have to ask the Boys in Blue, are you thinking about me?! I have a son-in-law who is a born and bred Cubbies fan, and you have to go and lose 2 to them?! I ask so little of you guys.
And now Either might be hurt? Broxton is losing his golden touch? McCourt...... (I am a mom. I have to take my own advice. If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. Thanks Bambi.)
At least Bin Laden was done away with this week.
I still hold out hope. Hope for the team. Hope that there will be a great giveaway with everyone turning 50 this year. Like Mattingly and Obama. I wrote to the Dodgers. We shall see. If they want the older fans, who are generally more well behaved and have the money to spend, they might consider it. I have watched the games on t.v. and seen the stands. They was way too empty!

What happened?
Jonathan B. - is it so hard to strike them out in the last inning? That was a crushing loss to the Marlins. So very hard to watch, so I decided to do laundry instead last night. My family thanks you Jonathan B.

Easter weekend
Had a very nice weekend. Spent a lot of time texting with my daughter and son-in-law who managed to score tickets to all 3 games in Chicago this weekend. Told my son-in-law that there is no crying in baseball. Day 2, the Dodgers lose so like a good sport I ignore his texts. My daughter put a picture of Davey Lopes up on her facebook wall just for me.
It was just announced that the Texas Rangers' former president will take over the Dodgers. Not sure how that will go. Like a good fan, I will stay tuned.
