Farewell Russell Martin
That is a title I was hoping never to have to type! He signed with the Yank.... the Yanke.... I can't say it. Why would he leave me, I mean, why would he leave the team?! All that time spent on the bench and they still wanted him. I hope Navarro can do us justice.

A missed birthday
Yesterday was Vin's birthday. I should have been here to post about it. His voice, his stories about players on both teams, his natural love of the game, all of these make him the voice of the Dodgers and thee best announcer around. Happy Birthday! Hope it was happy.

Christmas comes early

Sure, they have to make this annoucement after Teacher Man tells me he is not getting paid for the 3 weeks he is off next month.
Doesn't matter. I still want Dodger tickets for Christmas. And Valentine's Day. And Mother's Day. And our anniversary. And my major birthday next year.
Now, where is my I heart Davey Lopes t-shirt from the '70s?

R.I.P. Sparky
Sparky Anderson, he of managerial fame, died today. The Reds and the Tigers were his teams. My sister-in-law got to meet him once, standing in line at her local post office, and he gave an autograph for my nephew.
Teacher Man and I had always wanted to go to New York for our 25th wedding anniversary. That was the plan. Then the oldest decided to get married. (Me: "You are getting married in October?! What if the Dodgers go to the World Series?" Her: "Mom, they are not going to the World Series." Oh she of little faith - though she was right. I blame my son-in-law the -gulp- Cubs fan.)
So the big trip was put off a year. But we did finally go. It was everything we dreamed of. And when we got to Cooperstown, it was great! Cute small town. All baseball all the time. Even a sprinkling of snow in April, just for me. Our inn keeper, Ed, told us that Sparky Anderson stays at his B&B when in town. He liked to take early morning walks, then return and speak loudly so everyone else would get up too. Ed showed me where Sparky signed his wall, near the Kirby Puckett signature.
So Sparky, thanks for the memories.

Davey Lopes, he of the signed baseball card that Teacher Man (my husband) bought me for one of our anniversaries, he who is with me on the photo that graces my facebook page (sorry honey), he who was my teenage crush.... he might be coming back to the Dodgers?! That is one way to get Dodger Mom to buy more tickets.

I am new here
Hello. My first post and I am excited. I love to write, along with watch the Dodgers (win) and also reading and baking are fun.
My husband and 3 kids know exactly when a game will be on. I clean the house like mad, put dinner in the crock pot, and then sit on the couch to watch the game. When I can't be at Chavez Ravine.
So I start today. Last night, after 56 years, the San Francisco Giants won the World Series. Can't figure out why President Obama didn't give them the traditional congratulatory call, but the game was a lot of fun to watch. The Rangers tried. They really, really tried.
